Minnies Preschool and Nursery

How they cut the clutter and got back to what matters
When you run a preschool, your initial focus isn’t on systems and suppliers. It’s on the children, your teachers, and the families who trust you. It’s about making the space one that you can run your way.

When Amy and Nigel Green took over Minnie's Preschool, their goal was clear. They wanted to shift away from a corporate model to a smaller, community-focused environment where every child and family feels at home.

But the practical side of managing the day-to-day quickly became a headache.

Minnie's had kept the existing tech setup from the previous owners, and the friction was obvious. They were dealing with piles of paperwork, multiple bills, and paying for products they weren't even sure they needed. Worse, they were getting charged just to ask questions, and finding real answers was difficult.

"Before, it just felt too technical and not fit for purpose," says Amy. Like many other centre owners, changing it felt overwhelming.

That perspective shifted at the Early Childhood Council (ECC) conference in Rotorua. Amy and her team met Anoop and Devon from Now Business. Suddenly, the "too hard" basket started looking manageable.

It was the face-to-face connection and genuine willingness to help that made the difference.

Instead of trying to upsell, the Now Business team took the time to understand how the centre actually runs, from the office to the classroom. They didn't add complex packages. They actually took away the products Minnie's didn't need.

"We’re using what we need, rather than having all the extra stuff," Amy notes. "It’s a bit more boutique. It’s not like the big guys, which I like."

Switching to Now Business meant Minnie's could consolidate their broadband and mobile connections onto one simple bill. It saved them money and drastically reduced the paperwork.

It also meant they could offer a reliable mobile plan to their Centre Manager, Cathy.

"It was actually a really nice offering for our centre manager," Amy says. "Cathy’s now got a plan that we’re paying for, so she’s happy, and that helps."

Most importantly, the team at Minnie's now has local support they can actually rely on.

"We know who to ring, and that's a huge weight off our shoulders."

"The team has been amazing," says Amy. "Even with a few bumps along the way, being able to call someone local who can actually help, without getting charged for every question, has made such a difference. We know who to ring, and that's a huge weight off our shoulders."

For Now Business, working with centres like Minnie's and the ECC is about exactly this. It is about taking the tech headaches away, building trust, and keeping things simple so owners and their teams can focus on their community.

As Amy puts it, “Everyone’s friendly. Everything’s just easy. That’s all we really wanted, something that works for a small, family-owned centre.”
