Here you'll find everything you need to help you set up Now business broadband
How long will it take to get connected
Whilst most business addresses can be connected to our broadband network in a few days, there are a few checks we need to complete before we can confirm a ready for service date. Many businesses reside in multi-dwelling units where there are more than one business operating out of a building. As soon as our onboarding team receive an order they will verify the exact address of your business so that when we place an order with your local fibre company we get the correct termination equipment designation.
Once we have completed this check, we can give you a service date. If there is an existing fibre ONT in your building, usuallly service can be provided within 2-3 business days.
If there is a need to install new terminal equipment or move equipment this will obviously take longer and will require up to two site visits from a LFC field technician. This could take between 5 business days and 15 days depending on technician availability.
What is a fibre ONT?
The ONT (Optical Network Terminal) or fibre box is what your router plugs into.
How do I get a fibre box (ONT) installed?
If fibre is available at your location but you don't have an ONT currently installed, a technician will need to come and install one. Our business team will work with the local fibre company in your area to arrange this.
Depending on availability, it can take some time for a technician to visit, so we recommend getting in touch as soon as possible to get this organised.
Where should I get a fibre box (ONT) installed?
When you are getting fibre installed for the first time, you’ll need to make a decision on where we place some of the equipment inside your premises that makes your fibre connection work – like the Optical Network Terminal (ONT), also known as a fibre box.
The ONT or fibre box is what your router plugs into so where it it is located in your building can affect the quality of your broadband experience. The best place will be where you have a spare power plug that is close to most people who will be using the internet in your business.
If you have structured wiring, your ONT will usually be installed in the wiring cabinet near your other computer equipment.
Discuss with the fibre technician where is the best place for the ONT to be installed when they do their scoping visit.
Can I get my fibre box (ONT) moved?
If you'd like to move the fibre box (Optical Network Terminal or ONT) that was installed in your premises when fibre was connected, get in touch.
We'll contact the local fibre company on your behalf and get them onsite to check it out. Depending on the work required, there may be a charge for this. We won't mark up these costs, and you'll most likely pay these to the service company directly.
If you have any questions around moving other elements of your fibre connection, get in touch with our technical team.
