Can I stay with Mercury?
Yes, Mercury will continue to support its business customers. But we (and Mercury) encourage you to switch to us. We’re market leaders^ in business broadband and have great plans to continue to evolve your business offering and help your business be successful.
In 2022, we became a wholly-owned and independently run subsidiary of Mercury. We are a match made in heaven with our shared customer-first ethos, which means we can do what we do best – better business broadband and phone solutions with award-winning customer service^. Being backed by Mercury means that we can give you the best of both worlds – tailored business service and expertise, but with the broadband network strength of a larger company.
If I switch, what's the process?
Switching is super easy. You can contact us at any time to switch – simply give us a call on 0800 629 669, or book a meeting. If you can please have your Mercury account number handy, it will help to make it a speedy process.
We will recommend the closest Now Business product to your current Mercury plan. If your needs have changed or you would like to discuss alternate options, we can conduct a free, no-obligation review of your current solution and what the transition plan might look like. Please note, that the offer of up to 3 months free for transferring Mercury business customers will apply – but if you upgrade your plan, the plan may not be cheaper than the plan with Mercury*.
After confirming your desired plan, we will work with you to choose a date/time to transfer your services to us. You shouldn’t need to do anything through this process, but you may need to reboot your router after the transfer has taken place. Because of this, you may experience a small outage window of up to 30 minutes. We’ll work with you to ensure the timing of this fits best to your business needs and that the impact is as minimal as possible.
We have a dedicated team ready to tackle any issues, questions or concerns you may have before, during, and after the transfer. We will also touch base with you the day before the transfer, to ensure everything is good to go.
How does switching impact my billing?
Both Mercury and Now Business bill in advance for telecommunication services, like broadband. Once you’ve switched to us, your broadband services with Mercury will be cancelled. You don’t need to let them know; we’ll take care of it. You will need to pay any outstanding broadband charges with Mercury like you usually would. If you are entitled to a refund for any services that were paid in advance post the date of cancellation, Mercury will refund these. Once you’ve switched, you will receive a separate invoice from us for your telecommunication services.
We invoice at the beginning of each month, in advance. Your first bill will include any part-month charge for the services of the month prior and the full month following. It may also include any postage and delivery fees, and any installation and hardware costs. If you have received an offer of free month(s) service as part of the switch to us, you will see this as a credit on your first invoice.
Is there a difference in calling rates?
Generally, our domestic and international calling rates are the same price (or cheaper) than Mercury. A few international destinations are the exception, but we can work with you to understand your business needs and advise on the best solution. Please speak to your Business Advisor if you would like to learn more.
Can I choose when I cutover?
We will work alongside you to choose the best suited cutover date that aligns with your needs. Note that cutovers will only be completed Monday to Thursday, between 9:30am and 6pm.
As we work with local fibre companies to complete the switch, there are some limitations to when they can do this. We’ll keep communicating with you throughout the process.
What about if I have electricity with Mercury?
If you decide to switch your broadband and phone solutions to us, but you also have electricity with Mercury, this will continue as usual (including your TECT cheque, if eligible).
You will continue to receive an invoice from Mercury for your electricity, and from Now Business for your broadband and any phone services.
Who do I contact for help?
During the entire process, you will have one of our business advisors by your side who you can contact directly with any questions.
Alternatively, you can also contact our award-winning^ support team at any time. We are here to help on Monday to Friday from 8am to 8pm, on weekends and public holidays, 8:30am to 5pm. You can give us a bell on 0800 669 249 and email us at support@nownz.co.nz.
If you have any questions about your Mercury account, please contact Mercury on 0800 10 18 10.
Can I keep my current hardware?
Your current router can be used when you transfer to us, and doing so will help make the switch as seamless as possible.
If necessary, we can assist you to update your hardware after your switch to Now Business has completed.
