What is MS Teams Calling?

NOW MS Teams Calling allows you to connect your Microsoft 365 phone system to the PSTN (Public Phone Network) using Now’s network so you can make calls to anywhere using the Microsoft Teams app. External calling can be enabled with no investment in equipment and your existing phone numbers can be ported to ensure customer continuity.

Once you setup MS Teams calling your MS Teams users will be able to use their MS Teams app to make phone calls outside of your organisation.

What sort of businesses use MS Teams Calling?

Usually companies that use Now’s MS Teams calling are already using MS Teams for all of their other collaboration needs. Your organisation will need the following before you can setup MS Teams calling:

  • A Microsoft Teams Office 365 account.

  • User(s) in Office 365 with at least Microsoft Business Premium, E3 or E5 license or a license that support Direct Routing.

  • An In-house or IT Partner who will help configure and support the MS phone system within your Microsoft 365 environment.

  • An In-house or IT Partner who can run PowerShell scripts within your own domain (Now will provide the scripting).

  • An active Now business account.

What is Direct Routing?

Direct Routing allows customers to choose their own telecom provider like Now NZ to route phone calls in and out of Teams application. Basically it allows you to use Teams to make and receive calls. For a full description of direct routing visit the Microsoft website here.

Firstly, it is important to eliminate the MS phone system as the problem. Once they have eliminated this, they should contact Now technical support for troubleshooting.
