We’re proud to announce a new hometown sponsorship for our local teams who inspire so much passion across the Hawke's Bay region – the Magpies, Tui, and Hawke’s Bay Rugby.
Our CEO Hamish White says the sponsorship is not only about our commitment to Hawke's Bay, the region that gave us our start more than 13 years ago, but also highlights how important that sense of community is to local people.
“Hawke’s Bay Rugby has a long and storied career as some of the stalwarts of New Zealand rugby,” says Hamish. “From the very first teams running out in the black and white over 140 years ago, through the golden years of Ranfurly Shield competition in the 60s, to today’s modern game and the successes enjoyed by both the Magpies and Tui, there’s a continuous thread of connection to our community.”
“Few things inspire more passion and excitement in the Hawke’s Bay than supporting our local teams.”
Hawke’s Bay Rugby commercial manager Dan Somerville says the constant and loyal support from local businesses like Now also represents part of that connection with the wider community.
“It's like when the All Blacks win. When the Magpies and the Tui are playing well, a lot of people in Hawke's Bay are in good spirits,” says Dan. “So I think all those businesses like doing their bit to be a part of that and helping bring a smile to lots of people's faces around our community.”
Now is also lining up in support of the wider Hawke's Bay Rugby team and looking to help in the development of the game.
“We’re particularly interested in the growth of the women’s game, which is going from strength to strength through the efforts and focus of the Tui,” says Hamish. “Overall, we’re looking forward to finding ways to lend our support to the teams – both on and off the field.
